Every word in its place
why, yes, I did start a Substack
hi, I’m Jenn
I can count myself among the approximately eleventy-billion* gen X Jennifers. There were enough of us in my small Canadian high school that we were granted fixed nicknames, and I became the Jenn (with 2 n’s).
I’m formally educated in sciences and management systems, I love a good spreadsheet, and data visualization makes me bizarrely happy. I also extend my interest and training into coaching, facilitation, meditation, and energy management. I truly believe that at a certain level, it’s all connected. And so are we.

So, I made a Substack?
Since the early days of the internet, I have been poking around new corners, spaces and ways to connect with people amid the mass of information. A recent paring down of social media has made me rethink how and who I want to be online.
One of my earlier blogs was titled words: in order. My goals behind that site - versus my other personal and professional pages - were focused on creative writing. I’m (probably) not going to bother you with bad poetry* here, but that site reminded me of a missing space. There is great appeal in a venue that isn’t wholly about getting an algorithm-friendly sound bite out in record time. One where I could stretch back out into sidebars and footnotes (can I do footnotes here?!) while sharing words that might resonate.
What if I could again use words, story, and metaphor as bridges and connectors to share ideas and experiences. To acknowledge that we’re all connected and engage through that connection.
*oh no there’s a “poetry” feature in the editing tools. Everything’s a sign if you look hard enough…
Dot Matrix (extended field)
My official newsletter, Dot Matrix, lives on a different platform and is intended to efficiently support folks as they connect their dots across the expanse - a matrix, if you will - of their lives, as I aim to connect them to the services I offer.
But there’s always more to life than what makes it into any newsletter. In this extended field, I’d love to connect over the context of working through my very same efforts of balancing what matters both
to me, as a mid-life, mid/late(?) career Canadian, wife, mom, daughter, sister, friend, and ally who has weaknesses for shiny objects, rabbit holes and delicious phrases*, and
in the bigger, broader systems that connect us all.
*verbal and musical. bonus points if you’ve got both
What’s in the field
I’m still exploring what’s possible on Substack but can tell you with certainty to expect regular posts and podcasts.
I’m excited to explore the chat options and to extend how we connect through future subscriptions. Later. When the time is right to dive down that rabbit hole.
But first, today, let’s connect.

Jenn is a personal development coach, Reiki master teacher and voice over artist who prefers to see the glass half full of good intentions, in a vessel made of project, program, quality and change management principles. She lives on the left coast of Canada and drinks too much coffee.
